Salmon Cottage: Kerry

Salmon Cottage, a luxury three-bedroom lakefront hideaway nestled amongst oak trees, is one of only two homes on Madam's Island, a small private island on Caragh Lake.

The living room overlooks the lake, and with an open fire, comfy sofa and original artwork is the perfect place to rest and relax.

The dining area opens out onto a stone-clad patio with an outdoor fireplace and kettle BBQ, so whatever the time of year, it's the ideal setting for long lazy lunches with friends and family.

The kitchen is fully equipped - perfect for preparing those delicious meals; and offers additional seating for breakfast or that quick cup of tea before heading back out onto the water.

The house sleeps 7 people with three bedrooms and three bathrooms - one en-suite family room with a double and single bed, one twin room and one king sized double room; and an additional two bathrooms. The beds are cosy and comfortable with goose down quilts, cotton bedding and luxurious mattresses.

For those lazier days, there's a TV in the living room with Irish, English, German, French and other international channels. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout.

Taking the short path down to the shore, you can go for a swim, or if you fancy, go out on one of the canoes, stand up paddle boards or fishing boats - booking is required for these so please enquire before your stay regarding rates and availability.

For larger family gatherings and group getaways, we can also accommodate a further 7 guests at Acorn Cottage, the equally luxurious sister property a short walk down the lane.

We are available by phone and email any time of day.

If you'd like extra assistance with recommendations or suggestions - places to explore, things to do or restaurants to savour - just let us know.

We can also arrange those little extras - a delicious hamper on arrival, in-house chefs to cook a delicious meal, expert yoga instructors or outdoor adventure courses. Prices for these services are supplied upon request.

Extra accommodation for larger groups can also be arranged in our other nearby properties, all to similarly high standards and beautifully located. Feel free to enquire how we might be able to help.

Salmon Cottage on Caragh Lake is a special place. It is quiet with awesome lakeside access and views. It is also nearby to the towns of Killorglin and Glenbeigh, and Dooks golf.

Jens and his wife truly are Super Hosts! Our experience at Salmon Cottage was one to remember. You won’t find a better location anywhere in Ireland with so much to see and do right on your doorstep. We were blessed with a week of sunshine, adventure, raw natural beauty and plenty of good food. Our hosts had plenty of excellent recommendations of things to do and see in the area. Salmon Cottage is a beautifully kept property with plenty of space and views to die for. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience and a magical time in Kerry. Albert and Esther.

Wow! What a location location location! Absolutely stunning property with lake and mountain views. You will NOT want to leave. Cozy, comfortable- excellent for family or a friendly gathering. And the windows- so many to open, let in the breezes off the lake and just enjoy the setting. There was so much to see and do in the area but we just wanted to sit in the cozy reading chairs, light the fire and enjoy the space. If you do venture out- It is very close to many towns (Killorglin is fantastic), The Ring of Kerry, Dingle etc. Definitely recommend this home!

This is the most incredible accommodation and Jens has definitely earns his Superhost rating. Everything was perfect, from communications to the beautifully clean and spacious accommodation to the wonderful lakeside scenery on our doorstep. Nothing was too much trouble for our host and we got some fantastic recommendations for places to visit, restaurants, beaches, fishing... all which suited our family brilliantly. We had a most magical week and we highly recommend this location and our host. We are already planning our return.

This home’s setting is perfect for someone wanting serenity with a spectacular view. The home’s architecture fits the nature it sits in and the placement on the property captures all the views. The interior is well appointed, comfortable and very clean. The owners care about your stay and the hospitality was fantastic. A few light bulbs were out - fixed right away. Internet service was interrupted - a solution in about an hour. The kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies and we ate in most nights - why leave such a beautiful place? The location makes exploring the Ring of Kerry quite easy and although the house is “remote” a well stocked grocery store, butcher counter, and gas station is just 12 minutes away. I hope to stay in this home again someday.
