My best hotel/resort/spa for 2017
We came here as a family after a 12-hour car journey (with ferry) via Stranraer from Brighton. A long journey, but wanted to see my friend just after his 50th birthday over the New Year.

We booked for four days, but could have stayed for weeks. Where to start?

The cottage we booked on the lake was perfect for two adults and a teenage son... three floors very tastefully furnished with the emphasis on space, not clutter. Very Nordic on the lake.

The spa was amazing. A stroll through the rainy woods via flotation tank shack, hot sauna with sun streaming in and a view of the 'weather', then aromatherapy sauna finished by hot tub in the woods.

Moreover, the food was awesome. We ate every night when we could easily have self-catered and the service was beyond the pale. The brother/sister/father owners were charming with fantastic local stories.

This was my best out-of-home experience of 2017 and I travelled widely last year. Book now before we do. We'll be back in the Spring, although we might fly this time... only 90 minutes' from Belfast airport.

My wife treated me to a night here for my birthday. She told me a little about the place in the days before our stay, and to be honest I wasn't expecting much but was happy to get a night away nonetheless. Little did I know what a gem of a place this is. The location, staff, scenery, food and accommodation were all top class. We stayed in one of the bubble domes, which was very clean, very stylishly furnished and just very very cool. Unfortunately we picked one of the foggiest days in years to make our visit, so no stars were seen while we lay in bed but it was still really nice waking up in the middle of the forest. The fog also provided a beautiful backdrop for the elements trail which was also really good. I wasn't brave enough to jump into the lake for a swim though, maybe next time! Last, but certainly not least, the food. We had an evening meal and breakfast the following morning in the restaurant. The presentation of the food was something you would expect from a top restaurant in a major city, and the taste even better. All in all we had a really nice stay and intend to go back with our kids later this year for a longer visit. Would definitely recommend to friends

Where to begin!
This was most definitely a night to remember, absolutely fabulous place! The staff are so friendly and helpful, to the point I was sitting at dinner and asked one of the young ladies for a hair bobble which I was given lol, we stayed in bubble 2, such a memorable experience, I loved the old record player, the Polaroid camera and the the vintage looking radio! I enjoyed the popcorn on my arrival unfortunately my parter didint get to try any due to me being a pig. It really was something different and highly recommended, would definitely come back, the staff really do make all the difference. Thanks so much for a great nights stay.

Had the most amazing time in Finn Lough last week! The staff were incredible and the entire resort is gorgeous! Staying in the bubble dome was such an experience The food was so good, from the lovely picnic we had prepared for us to possibly the greatest chips I have tasted! So much thought and effort has gone in to everything like the decor and design to make your stay perfect! Before we fell asleep we already booked to come back again! I can't say enough good about this place! P.S Don't leave without trying one of their chocolate brownies!
