Shamrock Cottage: Fermanagh

Shamrock Cottage is located just 50m from the Lough Erne shore within 7 acres of Portagaria Wood in Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is 9 miles to Kesh in the east and Belleek to the west and looks out on Boa Island. This fully equipped, luxurious NITB 5 star self catering cottage is bright, airy and private.

Shamrock Cottage sleeps up to 6 people. It has three bedrooms upstairs: double with ensuite, twin and twin. Both of these twin rooms can be made into a super king size bed! There are 3 bathrooms. One bathroom is downstairs and includes a walk in shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need. The lounge has a wood burning stove for heat and pure comfort! The views are outstanding and you can walk from the lounge and the kitchen to outside. Enjoy meals alfresco on the patio whilst savouring stunning views over the lake and lush green landscape.

Located in gated grounds, your family can safely stroll or cycle around, fish for trout and pike in Lough Erne off the jetties, launch your kayak or have a bbq by the shore!

Anita and Dave, with their four sons run this self catering cottage business as a family business and Anita will meet you when you check in! Guests are made to feel welcome as soon as they arrive.

Shamrock cottage, was previously part of four cottages known as Irish Cottages, and was purchased by us in early 2016. Since then we have gained new guests in addition to retaining many guests from the former owners, many who want to return year on year!

Shamrock Cottage is perfectly located to explore Co. Fermanagh and Co. Donegal. Enniskillen, Donegal town, Bundoran and Omagh are all within 30 to 40 minutes drive. Outstanding west coast beaches Rossnowlagh and our favourite Murvagh beach are also 30 minutes drive. However, despite so much to see, do and visit within a short distance our guests often comment that they didn’t want to go anywhere but sit and relax at Shamrock Cottage and enjoy the views, listen to the sound of the water, sheep and cattle, wild birds and just unwind!

In the words of one guest ‘for me this is paradise; I can’t wait to return!’ Come, discover paradise!

“A little piece of heaven”

I have stayed with my family in Shamrock Cottage 3 times this year. Although I cannot take the credit for finding it, I am glad my eldest Son did. I have fallen in love and have booked for next year. I could stay in the Cottage for days on end and not go anywhere if all I want is surrounding beauty and relaxation. However, if you want to visit other places nearby there is an abundance and Anita is excellent at providing information. We visited Belleck Pottery, had a tour on the Kestrel on Lough Erne visiting Devenish Island, visited Enniskillen Castle, Rossnowlagh Beach, Murvagh Beach, Donegal Town and Marble Arch Caves to name but a few. There are many more places to visit and see.
We ate in The Smuggler's Creek overlooking Rossnowlagh, ate in The Black Cat Cove and had breakfast in The Thatched Cottage in Belleck. Shamrock Cottage is a great location for visiting many places within reach but it's own location is second to none when you want to escape a usually busy lifestyle. The Cottage is very well equipped and Anita has thought of everything. You might be lucky and get a taste of her banana bread which my husband Ciaran cannot get enough of, thus my reason for getting the recipe. My husband and sons loved the fishing and my little daughter who is 6 years old did not want to leave. I cannot recommend this Cottage enough but don't want to bore you, so book and make your own memories.

“Beautiful Location, Beautifully appointed accommodation, very helpful and friendly owners”

We stayed for a lovely family break, the views from the cottage were stunning. lovely and quiet location though not too isolated, great location as a base to go exploring.
Beautifully appointed accommodation, lovely friendly and helpful owner who made sure we were settled in and had everything we needed including fresh eggs! and left us with plenty of ideas of places to visit and tips on fishing from the lake.

“Lovely clean and comfortable house set in very peaceful location!”

Owner Anita was more than helpful and accommodating both prior to and on arrival, with a tour of the house and advice and information on the area. House is very clean and well equipped and has everything required for a break away. Plenty to see in the surrounding area if you are into the outdoors, equally suitable for an indoor retreat. Excellent value compared to other rentals in the area.
