Perfect for exploring the beauty of Valle d'Itria, the coast and Ostuni are nearby for day trips, too. While the vaulted ceilings and exposed stonework of the period apartment are brimming with character, there are a few compromises to make. Expect a small kitchenette that's better suited to lighter bites rather than large slap-up meals, and there's no outdoor space to speak of here. But with the town's bustling pedestrianised centre less than one hundred metres away for evening drinks and meals, we suspect you'll be out and about instead.

*Parking in Ceglie Messapica can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to the easily accessible public transport where possible – though we think the best way to see the city is on foot.
*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
