Tide Watcher: Lisbon

Tide Watcher is a perfect base to experience the city – located only minutes away from the central sights, it will best suit those who like exploring on foot. The bedroom view of Tejo River is, of course, a bonus. This home has been furnished with comfort and functionality in mind, but even though it's clearly a rental home, there are some nice design touches, such as the floor-to-ceiling windows and, the cornicing on the high ceilings.

Home truths:
* There is no elevator to this fourth floor home – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware
* The bedroom doesn't have a lot of storage space, and you'd struggle to unpack two suitcases there
* The WiFi is quite patchy – this might not be the best option for those who want to work during their stay
* When we visited, we spotted some scuff marks on the walls
* The building is quite old and it shows some damage
