The Theorem: Samos

In the eastern Aegean Sea, the island of Samos is home to picturesque beaches and villages, as well as some of the greatest thinkers of the ancient world. The birthplace of Pythagoras, this island has intellect as well as beauty under its belt. And at just a forty-five minutes drive to Pythagoras’ Cave, this coastal home can offer you a taste of both.

In striking, seaside settings, this villa’s exterior is not just limited to your private terraces and patios. Set in an orchard and pine forest stretching over forty-thousand square metres, the home blends beautifully into its natural surroundings. As you approach via the olive grove, vineyard, and vegetable garden, you might also spot a huge swimming pool, cliffside lounge, and two private coves down below for snorkelling. And we’re not even inside yet.

Traditional, terracotta-coloured tiled flooring and wooden furnishings remind you of rustic ideals in the living space, but bold modern art pieces bring a 21st-century attitude. The classic wooden ceilings are painted fresh white, and illuminated in the bedrooms by light flooding in from private balconies. And while marble bathrooms certainly invoke a feeling of ancient Greece, modern-day luxury is the real theme of this home.
