Open up the patio doors and step out onto your own terrace, complete with comfy sofas and a swimming pool – a private sanctuary from which to spend leisurely mornings sipping coffee and cooling off from the Mediterranean sun. Take a few more steps, however, and you're on a beautiful beach, making this home a real gem if you're looking for authentic island living without having to sacrifice any creature comforts.

While you aren't short on sun, sea and sand at home, there's plenty more further afield if you haven't quite had your fix. Rent a boat for the day and sail to one of the uninhabited islands nearby for undisturbed swimming and diving. Glorious hiking trails lead to inland pine forests and up the slopes of Mont Itamos for spectacular views over the village and gulf if you're craving some adventure.

After a day of soaking up all of the natural beauty Sithonia has to offer, there's nothing like heading home for a seafood dinner cooked on the barbecue. Gather around the outdoor dining table and tuck in while sharing your favorite moments from the trip. Just before the sun sets, pour a glass of wine or craft a cocktail and head up to the balcony to lie on a sun lounger and enjoy the scenery before you.
