You're more likely to find local family-run restaurants and the occasional independent art gallery in the surrounding streets than big attractions, but that's one of the things we like about this area. The bohemian Bairro Alto neighbourhood is within walking distance, and you can also wander down to the banks of the Tagus River. And, if you hop on the tram, you can visit the impressive São Jorge Castle and the winding streets of Alfama too.
