The garden area is a serene spot – on days at home you can choose between swimming lengths in the inviting pool or playing a game of table tennis with loved ones, as greenery wraps around you. The swing seat is just asking you to take the weight off, and settle down to get lost in the pages of your summer read for an hour or two – all you need is a glass of wine as an accompaniment and you’ll be in true holiday mode. At the end of the day, you have the choice of a barbecue or outdoor wood oven to rustle up a delicious dinner, which naturally, should be enjoyed outdoors at the stone table with your loved ones around you.

For days out exploring, Chania is a must-see – wander around the Old Town, sink your toes into the sand at Balos beach, or hike the famous Samaria Gorge. After working up an appetite, indulge in a spot of Cretan cuisine washed down with some home-brewed raki.
