Exposed brickwork and a few bold choices when it comes to wallpapers and colouring give it that loved-and-lived-in atmosphere. If you find yourself needing a quieter indoor moment, away from the lively festivities below, settle into an armchair or the teal velvet sofa and browse an art catalogue. The kitchen has some thoughtful additions like a blender and coffee machine, and there’s on-site laundry. Keep energy levels high with a siesta in the cosy bedrooms before hunting down jazz and bourbon in the Vieux Carré. We also appreciated the building’s array of on-site facilities – especially the dazzling rooftop pool and gym – as a way of relaxing after a full-on day (and night) in New Orleans. Challenge friends to a game of pool downstairs or head up to the deck for skyline views over the Big Easy – pre-dinner drinks go down a treat up here. With the French Quarter right on the doorstep, dining and drinking out is basically non-negotiable – or it should be. Plus, you're less than a twenty-minute stroll from Bourbon Street, boasting a tantalising supply of hip bars, music venues and traditional Creole cuisine.

*The apartment is a twenty to twenty-five-minute drive from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport
*If you're bringing little ones, a pack-n-play crib is provided – plus games and toys
*Up to two pets are allowed for an extra $150 non-refundable cleaning fee – your pets must be under the maximum weight of 30lbs (per pet)
