Found in the northwest corner of Aegina, there's a lot that's quite traditional about this villa. The white, boxy exterior is quintessentially Aegean in style, as are the surrounding grounds containing pistachio and pine trees. The stone barbecue and oven in the outdoor kitchen lets you prepare meals the old-fashioned way, too.

However, much of the villa feels like a contemporary update on the Greek getaway. The interior is dominated by cleansingly white walls and bold blue trimmings — a nod to the national flag — as well as sleek surfaces and intimate lighting in both the kitchen and bathrooms.

We're referring to the dazzling blue sea view that can be enjoyed from the balcony, which will never be anything other than mesmerising. Should you wish to get a little closer to thIs coastline, the nearest beach is only two minutes' walk away. The house of the famous author, Nikos Kazantzakis, can be reached in five minutes on foot, too.
