Hidden in stunning west Cork lies this historic estate on 160 acres of trails and feature gardens complete with a private lake and the world-famous Sky Garden.
This is one of Ireland's original 'Big Houses, built in 1853 and was the home of The O'Donovan Gaelic clan for generations.
During the 20th century, it was bought by the Swiss government, which saw West Cork as a potential haven for the future.
Just recently, it has been taken over by an International hotel group and lovingly reinvigorated to provide 5-star hospitality and exceptionañ event spaces for corporate events.
We had a brief stay at this property to meet up with friends in the area during our tour of Ireland. The property was a bit hard to get to, driving in small local winding roads. But once we got there, we were very pleased with the service, the room and the food. Dinner in the Garden Restaurant was creative and delicious. Staff was very gracious and friendly.

I had the wedding of my dreams. Everything from the accommodations, the landscape, amenities, food, and ambience was above and beyond what I saw in the photos online. There are acres and acres of walking trails, and breathtaking views in every direction. All of my guests were treated so well and had the time of their lives. The Saunas overlooking the lake were my personal favorite. The food is absolutely stunning and delicious. I cannot wait to go back.
