More Sunshine for Ireland in 2022

In the last quarter of 2021, Ireland stayed on the warmer, southern side of the Jetstream, with high pressure dominating through much of September, November and December, giving warmer and drier than average conditions.

In fact, according to Met Éireann, Annual air temperatures across the whole country have been above average and rising slowly over the last 11 years.

The trend should continue into 2022, which is good news for holidaymakers.

While future temperature projections vary depending on many factors, all future projections suggest more sunshine and less rainfall.

Met Éireann has seen a rise in temperatures throughout the year over recent decades that can be linked to the changing global climate and changes in extreme weather events like storms.

Mount Dillon, Co Roscommon reported Ireland's highest temperature last summer, 30.8 °C on the 21st July.
