The arrival of superstar Brad Pitt is drawing hordes of star spotters, tourists, and locals alike to the seaside village of Dalkey, just outside Dublin. The town, which is always a hit with actors filming Hollywood blockbusters, hasn't seen activity like this since Matt Damon lived there for an extended period while filming and was famously pictured heading into the sunshine at the stunning Vico swim spot.
Celebrities who have also been spotted in the area over the past few years include Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Jane Seymour, Jeff Bridges, Cillian Murphy, and Frances McDormand.
The lead-up to this year's Oscars is also causing significant excitement across the country, with Jessie Buckley tipped to win Best Actress for her starring role as Agnes in the film Hamnet for the 98th Academy Awards, alongside Paul Mescal.
It's rumoured that Buckley may be invited along when Brad Pitt meets up with U2's Bono, as she is a regular on the awards circuit with Bono's actress daughter, Eve Hewson. The Bono/Pitt friendship has long been cemented, and insiders confirmed a few years ago that he is godfather to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jole-Pitt, the youngest children of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The long-standing friendship between Bono and Pitt stems from their humanitarian work.
Pitt will be filming in four counties in Ireland - Wicklow, Dublin, Cork and Kerry, along with the Greek island of Hydra. He's filming The Riders, based on the Tim Winton book, where the character (Fred Scully) decides to buy an old farmhouse and renovate. The superstar is teaming up with All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave director Edward Berger for the film, which also stars Emmy-winning Julianne Nicholson and Coco Greenstone.
One of Ireland's most iconic film locations, the 'Guinness lake' - Lough Tay in Wicklow will be the backdrop, having previous being used for projects such as Excalibur and The Vikings.
