According to Racing Post's Lee Mottershead::

"A life was changed forever this day and perhaps, so too, a sport."

Rachael Blackmore has ridden the winner of the 2021 Grand National on the back of Minella Times she was utterly sublime, just as she had been at the Cheltenham Festival, where success aboard Honeysuckle was her highlight in the meeting she dominated.

While sporting success shouldn't be defined by gender, Rachael Blackmore is racings greatest female jockey, and it is hard to ignore the girl's epic achievements in a male-dominated sport. No female rider has more grade one winners than the Tipperary girl, a real pathfinder for female jockeys.

Irish success at the world-famous Cheltenham Festival is nothing new, but it has been more devastating than ever in 2021 as the Irish race team scooped 23 out of the 28 races leaving their British counterparts awestruck.

Trainers Henry de Bromhead (6), Willie Mullins (6) and Denise Foster (3) led the way, and Honeysuckle ran out a stunning winner of the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle 2021 for Rachael Blackmore and Henry de Bromhead.

The seven-year-old stretched her unbeaten record to 11 and did so with a riveting display as Blackmore made sporting history to become the first female rider to win the day one feature at Cheltenham.
