Irish artist Sinéad O'Connor who rose to stardom in 1990 with her version of the Prince song "Nothing Compares 2 U", passed this year aged 56.
Not only was she one of the most engaging performers of her generation, but her version of Nothing Compares is what it says on the tin and is considered by many as the best love song ever.
O'Connor touched millions of hearts with her remarkable singing voice and softly spoken, often poetic Irish brogue. Her three children survive the controversial Dublin-born singer-songwriter.
Known worldwide for her provocative actions and characteristic shaved head, the much-loved artist and mother battled physical and mental health problems for decades.
Sinéad often spoke openly about how being a survivor of one of the Magdelena workhouses for girls and women affected her throughout her life and career. Five Star had the privilege of accommodating Sinéad when she returned from the USA and is fondly remembered by all the concierge team for her endearing motherly nature.
All will sadly miss her, but her unique voice, poetry and spirit live on!
