President of the EU commission Ursula von der Leyen said the Ukrainian soldiers are showing great courage and tenacity but are in desperate need of more support.

She welcomed an agreement aiming to deliver a million rounds of ammunition over the next 12 months with member states to ramp up industrial production to ensure timely delivery.

Last week we disbursed another €1.5 billion to Ukraine to help keep the country running while defending itself, which puts Ukraine firmly on its EU path by supporting reforms, good governance and financial stability.

Before the Russian invasion, Ukraine made progress on reforms designed to make the country prosperous, democratic, and transparent, including creating a national anti-corruption agency, overhauling the banking sector, establishing a transparent VAT refund system, and increasing transparency in government procurement.

"Ukraine has become the centre of our continent. The place where our values are upheld, where our freedom is defended, where the future of Europe is written".

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission
