Competing with global fast-food chains like McDonalds is probably not for the fainthearted, but skimming the shores of Lough Key, near Boyle in County Roscommon, you will find a small but significant family-owned organic farm which is making a positive impact on food philosophy and the values and ethics of organic farming.
Indeed, Drumanilra Farm Kitchen has enjoyed much encouragement from the farming community, media and food lovers since their first organic restaurant and shop sprouted up in Boyle, County Roscommon with the mission of providing local natural in season ingredients from farm to plate!
With several 'under the radar' investments and acquisitions, the family-owned enterprise driven by Liam and Justina Gavin is now in the process of converting a former Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) property into Drumanilra's first dedicated organic drive-through restaurant.
There are things we know are synonymous with fast food establishments; you get your food fast, but you may wonder from where the ingredients came and are there many chemicals?
Could Drumanilra Farm Kitchen be a disruptor or at very least a healthier go-to option for burger lovers?
Yummy can't wait - watch this space!
Opening in Carrick-On-Shannon Summer 2020.
