In Saharan temperatures at Londons's iconic All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Novak Djokovic fended off Australia's new golden boy Nick Kyrgios in a captivating 2022 Wimbledon men's final.
Kyrgios entertained the crowds with his fiery outbursts and raw talent while Djokovic was relentless in his pursuit of a seventh coveted Wimbledon title, just one behind record-holder Roger Federer.
Despite Kyrgios being a big underdog, Djokovic had to be at his best to defeat the Australian to complete a 21st Grand Slam title, now within one of Spaniard Rafael Nadal's 22 titles.
Djokovic said 'Wimbledon' was why he took up the game and recalled watching TV with his parents back in 1993 when Pete Sampras lifted this trophy for the first time.
