The global golf tourism market is booming internationally and the sport is globally thriving like never before. Here are 5 luxury golf destinations to the fore in 2019:

Adare Manor – Ready for the World Stage

Ready to re-open in March 2019, the masterfully designed golf course at Adare Manor is ready to take its place among the best championship courses in the world. Celebrated golf architect Tom Fazio has transformed the course and it was voted World's Best New Golf Course for 2018 in the World Golf Awards. It's preparing for the JP McManus Pro-Am in 2020 which has attracted golf's leading names to Ireland and raised a massive €140m to beneficiaries since 1990.

St. Andrews Old Course – the Home of Golf

"I fell in love with it the first day I played it. There's just no other golf course that is even remotely close" according to Jack Nicklaus. This is the most iconic golf course in the world and it is enjoying a recent renaissance. The Swilcan Bridge and the Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe but St. Andrews Old Course has the novelty of still being a public golf course, open to all. Amongst all the new openings, this home of golf is a must-visit in 2019 for any golf fans that have not yet played it.

First public Tiger Woods Design

Payne's Valley, the very first public Tiger Woods golf course design is set to open at Big Cedar Lodge this year. "Enjoyment for a lot of players" is promised and Tiger Woods has always said that he wants to build courses that everybody can play. It remains to be seen with this newest of designs but anticipation is building.

Michael Jordan – From Basketball to Golf

Arguably the greatest basketball player in history, Michael Jordan has a love of golf that is well documented. He is set to open a new course in South Florida late this year, designed by architect Bobby Weed and it promises to be a great match play course to challenge all golfers!

Style in Sweden

North of Stockholm, Osterakers GolfKlubb is Henrik Stenson's first foray in to golf course design. It's described as "a classic parkland course with quite a lot of risk and reward – just like Henrik likes it". A par-3 course will open this year with the second 18 hole layout to open by 2022. This is a fantastic addition to the European golfing landscape.
