The multi-course tasting menu focuses on the extraordinary agricultural bounty of New York and on the centuries-old culinary traditions that have taken root here.
Eleven Madison Park is a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of New York City. The restaurant overlooks Madison Square Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Manhattan, and sits at the base of a historic Art Deco building on the corner of East 24th Street and Madison Avenue. Located here since 1998, it underwent a full-scale renovation and redesign in the summer of 2017.
The restaurant has been owned by Chef Daniel Humm since 2011 and during that time it has evolved considerably, both in food and in experience. Our tasting, five-course, and bar menus consist of entirely plant-based dishes. Guests can also visit the bar for light snacks, or simply for a cocktail or glass of wine.
Very disappointing indeed and outrageously expensive for what little is offered on the six-course so- called vegan menu.
It starts with a series of salty broths followed by some kind of tart on which a couple of pastes are to be spread. Ok. But blah.
Then a dome- shaped mush of potato which is an insult to the tuber.
The waiter makes a great show with another course, this time presented in an enormous tagine. He pours hot water into the funnel and marvels to see steam pouring from the neck.
Then a slimy mess of tofu and some scrapings from a green vegetable. Can it get any worse?
Finally - and this was the best part - a crispy yellow crust like a small saucer is served, perched over a plop of ice cream.
By this time we are starving. But what to do? We paid in advance for this showy nonsense which bears a very close resemblance to a fraud.
A word of advice. Save your money and eat out elaswhere.
