Balloo is still our family favourite for celebrating and we seem to be looking for excuses these days. There's a relaxed atmosphere and always really good food. Balloo House feels like a country pub, but eating there is still a special occasion. The menu matches the interior- pub favourites so no-one feels hungry or foolish, and some interesting choices that make it worth the journey. I tried the Sunday Lunch menu on our last visit and was pleasantly surprised. A leg of lamb is best done at home- in fact a Sunday roast can only properly be enjoyed at home - but this was the next best thing with fantastic gravy, truly unmatched, and skilful touches with the support - red cabbage, roasties, champ and cauliflower cheese. Six people was about £175 but some starters were shared and we only had a couple of drinks. Everyone was very happy and we're working out what we need to celebrate next.
