Stayed recently in Glenlo Abbey in Galway recommended to me by a friend. The view from our room was amazing. We overlooked a beautiful garden, the Pullman restaurant (carriages from the Orient Express) and a golf course. The staff that greeted us on arrival exuded a genuine welcome in a very friendly manner. The dining experience in the Pullman restaurant was everything I was told it would be, and more. The staff offered a level of service that most establishments will never come near. The entire visit was excellent from our arrival to our departure. This visit will remain with us for all the right reasons. C & N, Carroll Tramore

"A Special Treat!" What a wonderful stay we had at this beautiful hotel! The grounds featuring the golf course are awesome! Such a lovely setting! Our room was very comfortable with views of the golf course and Pullman train! We just loved our stay and highly recommend. We had dinner in the Pullman train. The food was delicious, and the service excellent. The train had been used in the movie "Murder on the Orient Express". Another interesting fact was that Winston Churchill's casket was carried via this train. Our breakfast (included) in the dining room was perfect! Thank you so much for this amazing experience!

"Amazing hotel" This beautiful and charming hotel provides all you need for a relaxing stay. From check-in to check-out you be surrounded by friendly stuff. Highlights are the Pullman restaurant in 2 original train carriages which were used in filming Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, the cosy movie theatre showing e. g. Murder on Orient Express and Casablanca, the Falconry, and the 9 hole Golf course on the door step. It's a classy hotel in the best sense of the word.

We had high expectations when we arrived at Glenlo after we had a pathetic room at Ballynahinch.
We had booked a classic king room 35m2 and we were very happily welcomed by an upgrade to the Presidential suite (no 360) which was a real apartment with a private sitting room and terrace. There was a wedding in the hotel so it gave us the desired privacy while most reception rooms were occupied by the wedding party but we still felt very special in this amazing suite. This was our relaxing day after we drove around almost 2000km the past week so it was the perfect treat. We could not have afternoon tea downstairs due to the wedding reception so we made tea in our beautiful room. The 9 hole golf course is gorgeous with views over Lake Corrick and the practice range very well designed. We only felt that the walled garden adjacent to the Abbey could be given a bit of landscaping.
We had dinner at the Pullman Restaurant and loved the decor and experience while not so impressed by the cuisine. The menu is pretty short and while what we ate was good it was not outstanding. Portions were really small especially for starters and one would consider this size of portions for very expensive ingredients like caviar or foie gras or 5 course tasting menus. The main course was tasty ( but again it was just lamb and fish) served with baby potatoes as a side dish which again is very basic. We have not tried the restaurant inside the hotel so we can’t compare but I would not qualify our dinner as a culinary experience. It was fun but long as we ended up being served our dessert cheese plate at the same time as the table next to us who arrived 1/2hr later than us. I would also like to add a comment for our arrogant waiter who could not serve wine without spilling

"A truly grand stay" Glenlo Abbey was fantastic. The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms clean and comfortable, the facilities offer a variety of activities. But nothing can top the staff. As a group of 8 we arrived late in the evening and Sandra was extremely welcoming. Well past the dining hours, she helped us get food delivered to the property and even set up an area for us to eat together. There was not a moment that staff was not attending to a guest and making everyone’s stay the best it could be. The dining room was beautiful and featured the best French toast I’ve ever had! The 9-hole golf course is friendly and offers scenic views throughout. The bars provided a fun atmosphere and the bartenders made the evening serving up good drinks and plenty of laughs - especially Molly! It was the best stay during our 10-day tour of Ireland.
