We had an art deco style room which was gorgeous and huge.
Staff were all lovely especially Roisin on reception and one of the housekeeping ladies who very promptly got us a sewing kit to repair my broken handbag strap.
Food was lovely for both breakfast and dinner.
A lovely experience for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary.

"Amazing night"
My friends and I stayed in the Merchant last night for my hen party and it was amazing from check in to check out. The room was unbelievable and was such a lovely touch. Our dinner in Berts was out of this world and our complimentary prosecco was much appreciated.

All of the staff, particularly in Berts, were so friendly and made our stay so enjoyable.

My fiancé and I are staying in the Merchant for our wedding night and this made me so excited for it.

"Luxury room"
My husband and I just stayed 1 night bed and breakfast for our 20th wedding anniversary. We wouldn’t normally spend so much for a night £273, but pushed the boat out for the special occasion. The room was absolutely beautiful, Art Deco, very comfortable bed and bathroom was delightful with a free standing bath tub. Breakfast was nice, it was waiter service, I would prefer the buffet type, but maybe it had to be this way because of COVID-19. Unfortunately the spa was also closed because of the pandemic so that was very disappointing. The decor and style of the entire hotel was like a step back in time and very much to my personal taste. We were able to park our car in a nearby multi-storey car park for a reduced rate of £15.

"Celebration stay on reopening"
We had booked for my big birthday, but due to the Coronavirus and lockdown it was cancelled. When we heard the great news of the Merchant reopening on our wedding anniversary, we automatically booked.
We were greeted at reception and made to feel very welcomed. All safety measures ( social distancing, sanitisers) were in place making us feel very safe. This was the same throughout our stay. The entire staff were wonderful.
We were staying a gorgeous Deluxe Victorian suite. (We got a complimentary upgrade and a Bottle of Champagne) making our stay a lovely memory for us both.
We dined in the Great Room which has been beautifully refurbished.
We cannot recommend the Merchant highly enough, If you get the opportunity to visit you will not be disappointed.
They have ticked all the boxes in regard to the recommendations needed to keep us all safe and confident in staying in this wonderful hotel.

I really look forward to going back to experience some luxury.

"lovely wedding venue"
on arrival our room was upgraded to one of their art deco rooms which was so spacious and lovely. It has the wow factor. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights to attend my niece's wedding which was being held at The Merchant. The Wedding went really well and was well organised and the food was excellent. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and next time use their spa facilities which i didn't have time to use on this visit. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
