Once the city’s telegraph station, this light-filled Porto apartment has been reimagined into a practical, fuss-free bolthole. Granted, the interiors may feel pared back for some, and the bathroom a little dated. But with a private terrace for morning coffees and a separate dining room, you can’t quibble over the sense of space. Set back from the bustle of the tourist centre, Marques Metro is just a short walk away if you need to be someplace fast. But we think the best way to explore the city is on foot, and the grandiose Avenida dos Aliados and the famous Rua de Santa are all within walking distance.
