Sleek and stylish, this duplex apartment is the ideal spot for a city break to Porto. The location is enviable – on a narrow residential street where the buildings are fronted with traditional azulejo tiles and the nights are quiet. Yet, it’s just a couple of minutes’ walk to the banks of the River Douro. Following the riverside path, you can reach the wine warehouses and restaurants of the Ribeira easily on foot.

The decor feels natural inside in a palette of straw, pebble and wood. After a day wandering the historic streets of Porto – popping into ancient churches or taking a boat down the river – you can put your feet up (literally) on the L-shaped sofa. Sunshine filters in through French-style windows which open out to a slender balcony. Out here, you’ve got a view over the orange rooftops of the city centre. Breakfasting is a delight at the sunny dining table for four and the secret bonus is a dedicated office area on the mezzanine level for those that need to work remotely.

*There is no private parking but this place is in the centre of Porto so we think the area is best explored on foot
