You'll find the warm turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico just across the street, so you can be splashing in the waves and lounging in the sun in no time. You can also sprawl out by the resort's pool, or if you want to take things easy, bask in the rays on the private balcony with a cocktail or two. Inside, the design is inspired by the coastal setting – think seafoam-coloured walls, tropical prints and wicker accents. The open-plan living space is great for socialising – the kitchen island is the perfect spot for breakfast – while built-in bunk beds and a lovely main suite will please both parents and kids at bedtime.

Gulf Shores is popular with families, thanks to the long list of activities that everyone will adore. Take a break from the sand and surf and spend the day catching thrills at the amusement parks and waterparks nearby (there are four within a twenty-minute drive), visit the animals at Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo (fifteen minutes by car) or get in touch with nature at the Wade Ward Nature Park (a seven-minute drive). Spend evenings dining on fresh-caught seafood at the eateries on the Wharf before watching the oceanfront sunset – not a bad way to end the day.
