This place is cosy cottage living but in the heart of Los Angeles. It’s a five-minute walk to the shops and eateries of Santa Monica Boulevard in one direction, and seven minutes to Sunset Boulevard in the other. The open living room and kitchen is decked out in soft grey and plum. A handmade breakfast bar sits under the flat-screen TV and the kitchen is tucked away in an alcove, keeping it slightly separate. Elegant touches like the mosaic tiles in the hallway and subway tiles in the bathroom keep a refreshing, modern feel and the queen bed invites a peaceful slumber. There’s a bistro set for two on the cute porch outside if you want to make the most of the LA sunshine.

Home truths:
*There is room for an additional guest on the sofa bed in the living room but this means sacrificing the only communal space
*Due to noise restriction in the neighbourhood, the host asks guests not to pull wheelie suitcases along the driveway before 8am and after 10pm
*Parking is not included but the host can try and reserve you a space out front before you arrive
