On the ground floor, a cosy living room caters to snug evenings, with an extendable antique dining table in the adjacent room for feasts with the whole family. At the back of the home, a spacious kitchen has everything you might need to unleash your culinary creativity. Finally, three first-floor bedrooms ensure plenty of room for everyone to slumber in peace.

Step outside to be greeted by the invigorating scent of the sea, tinged with a hint of salt and vinegar that'll have you craving good old-fashioned fish and chips as soon as you arrive. Thankfully, there are around half a dozen establishments within a stone's throw of your front door.

After eating your fill, you might want to walk off your lunch with a gentle stroll along the seafront promenade and enjoy breathtaking views over the bay. During the warmer months, its five-mile stretch of sand – sloping gently towards the North Sea – is ideal for the kids and offers plenty of rock pools to investigate. Fancy a change of scenery? The seaside resort of Scarborough lies just a little over seven miles north, with the wilds of the North York Moors National Park beyond that.
