Dive into the streets below to explore the must-sees starting at Clérigos Tower and Lello's Bookshop – both under a five-minute walk away. Then blaze a trail for the Riberia district (a fourteen-minute walk) jam-packed with restaurants and hole-in-the-wall taverns for a bite to eat. And you can always keep the night flowing in the bohemian bars and tapas spots surrounding the apartment – this area is now synonymous with the Porto party scene.

But don't let that put you off if you'd rather have some early shut-eye. High above the streets, this apartment feels remarkably quiet when the balcony doors are drawn. And while this may be studio living, we think it's beautifully formed. The owners have kept the space pared-back and contemporary, and is all bathed in natural daylight thanks to those Juliet balcony doors.

But it's up on the shared roof terrace that's getting us hot under the collar. To find a place in Porto with outdoor space and views this special is scarce. Rustle up some Porto Tonics and head upstairs to take a pew as dusk settles over the city's rooftops – there's no finer place to toast the day.
