With views of the Strait of Ithaca and the verdant green hillside rising out of it, we picked this Kefalonian home on its sunny outlook alone. The pretty, traditional Kefalonian architecture, bright decor and generous outdoor area are a bonus – so is the private swimming pool, angled to overlook the deep blue on the horizon. Though there's enough room for everyone inside, alfresco meals on the terrace – when you're not dining at the local tavernas – will be an irresistible prospect. Drop your bags and head to the beaches along the coast, or make your way across the channel to visit Ithaca for the day.
