This is one of the quirkiest spots for a romantic break we’ve seen – half of a Grade-II listed church, transformed initially into a photographic studio and now an apartment. It's larger than your typical studio and feels more like an open-plan one bed with a semi-separate kitchen and gorgeous original features, making it a wonderful spot to hunker down for a weekend in Somerset. Use it as a base to explore the countryside – there are walks galore in this quiet and secluded spot, although it’s just eight miles to Bath and twelve to Wells if you fancy a change of pace. Alternatively, you can just stay in and chill in the modern but cosy environment. Guests benefit from underfloor heating and a wood burner in the winter months, or an outdoor bench in the glorious garden when the weather gets warmer. You’ll be praising your hosts that you’ve found such a heavenly spot.
Home truths: *The owners live in the other half of the church, so they’re on hand to help if you need anything
*The gardens are shared, although the hosts tend to use the back while the guests enjoy the front
*The hosts have a tabby cat — Pixel — although he is banned from entering the studio
*The welcome pack has semi-skimmed milk and home-baked treats in it so please let the hosts know about dietary requirements or allergies ahead of time
