With a palatial façade, stunning minimalist interiors, and proximity to the poshest shopping street in Lisbon, Nova Inspirada packs quite a punch. But don't be fooled by the central location – this home is tucked away on a quiet street where you can relax on any of your many terraces, which includes the communal atrium. We tested this home in the winter, so the outside spaces don't look as appealing as they will in the summer, but the building itself hides the remains of a Roman settlement, so you'll be living and breathing history.

Home truths:
*The furniture is lovely, but it is made up of standard brands
*While there are three parking spaces for guests to use, you won’t fit into the garage with a large van or station wagon
*Guests can use the building’s communal laundry facilities – there's no washing machine
*Unfortunately, you won't be provided with basic kitchen ingredients when staying here
*When we tested the WiFi, it was too slow to support demanding tasks
*All the beds in this home are singles connected by double toppers
*Since we shot this home, the host has changed all the single beds to king beds
