Then beat the heat with a good book in the cool and inviting living space awash in soft whites and neutrals. Or sneak away for a cheeky siesta on the shady terrace with out-of-this-world vistas – that outdoor sofa has got your name all over it.

As dusk begins to settle over the mountains and the village lights of nearby Frigiliana begin to flicker on, fire up the barbecue in the made-for-action outside kitchen while the rest of your ensemble perch at the bar. It's a magical spot to spend an evening, stargazing to your heart's content.

When it's time to soak up the local culture and meet the locals, jump in the car and nip down to Nerja's authentic tapas bars and restaurants (3km drive) for plates of Jamon Iberico and jugs of Sangria, just like you imagined. Or pack up a picnic and head to the coast – there are ten miles of sandy beaches (less than 4km away) begging you to lounge away the day.
