Recently renovated, the old stone cottage offers superb accomodation in the midst of spectacular scenery, 2 km from the Galley Head Lighthouse.

Formally a hunting lodge, owned by Lord and Lady Carbery of nearby Castlefreke Estate, the current owners have extended and sensitively modernised the old stone dwelling, carefully conserving all the original features i.e. sash windows, high ceilings, doors etc. This superior self-catering cottage has lots of living space. In addition to the exquisite master bedroom with views of Kilkern Lake, there are three more tastefully furnished bedrooms, a reception room, large sitting/dining room, kitchen, large conservatory/breakfast room seating 8 and utility/boot room. the property is gated with lots of parking space and a large garden/recreation area. Two bedrooms are en suite with power showers and the main bathroom has a jacuzzi bath with integrated power shower.

This is a dream vacation rental property in Co. Cork, Ireland, one of the few unspoilt areas left in the world, where the rugged cliffs and coastline, stunning seascapes and twisting roads are dominated by the Gothic spectre of Castlefreke Castle. Nothing has changed in recent years. At night the local lighthouse lights up the night sky and the rumble of crashing waves can be heard hitting the beach. The cottage is one hour from Cork airport and ferries.

GOLF AND LEISURE: World renowned golf courses in the area include the Old Head, Kinsale, and Bandon, Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry and Killarney golf clubs are all within driving distance. There are sailing schools at nearby Glandore and Baltimore and ferries to Sherkin and Cape Clear islands. Other coastal amenities include deep sea angling, whale watching boat trips, and freshwater scuba-diving/kayaking at Lough Hyne Nature Reserve. Horse-riding and trekking centres, surfing and walking trails are all available close by. There are multiple beautiful hikes of the surrounding area from the doorstep.

The local country pub is O'Donovans at Fisher's Cross, which is always lively. A ten minute walk along the beach brings you to the Fish Basket, providing fresh local seafood and great coffee. The nearby towns of Glandore, Clonakilty and Rosscarbery offer excellent dining options catering for all tastes and budgets. 

The hosts provide a welcome basket containing local produce and essentials on your arrival. Linen and towels are supplied.
