House in North Wales: Gwynedd

This elegant period house is perfect for a group getaway with family or friends. Make the most of the hot tub, games room and garden, and enjoy the beautiful views towards the Dyfi River and bridge. Set out for scenic walks with direct access to the coast path and Bron yr Aur mountain from the garden. Machynlleth is under 1 mile away, boasting a range of eateries, independent shops, a weekly produce market, MOMA gallery and events. The harbour town of Aberdovey (9 miles) offers sandy beaches, independent shops, eateries and a superb links golf course. Within 8 miles of the property, visit King Arthur s Labyrinth, Corris Mine Explorers, Corris Craft Centre, The Centre of Alternative Technology, board the narrow gauge railway to Dolgoch Falls or watch the wildlife at Ynys Las Nature Reserve. The property is situated on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, with walking, climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking opportunities aplenty. This spacious house is beautifully restored, celebrating period features with contemporary twists and all the thoughtful extras for your holiday. As you enter through the back door, the long hall, with flagstone floors, has lots of space for your shoes, boots and coats, and there s a convenient WC. Continue through to the stunning kitchen where you ll find all the equipment you need to rustle up a feast for your family. Turn on the radio and look through the recipe books to plan your menu and gather around the large table to enjoy your meal. After dinner, settle down on one of the comfortable sofas in the lounge to watch a film on the Smart TV and fire up the coal effect electric fire in the cooler months. The second lounge is great for a cosy night in by the roaring wood burner, with large leather sofas and access via the French doors to the garden. When ready to retire for the night, head up the primary staircase to find a king size bedroom with a feature fireplace, sofa and en suite bathroom; and two lovely twin rooms, one with a TV. Also on the first floor, accessed via a second staircase, is a landing with a small pool table, large TV, DVD player, comfortable sofas and a plethora of games to play. There is also a shared shower room on the first floor. On the second floor are a landing library and two further bedrooms: one is a lavish super king size with feature fireplace and en suite bathroom. The last bedroom has an impressive king size four poster bed, an additional king size sleigh bed and an en suite shower room. Whichever bedroom you choose, you will have lovely views to wake up to. Outside, enjoy superb river views from the hot tub, and alfresco dining on the large, paved patio with table, chairs and covered gas BBQ station. Relax on the grassy banks with a good book or embrace the view from the vista seating. Take the footpath through the little wooden gate and explore the rolling countryside on Bron yr Aur mountain, inspiration for Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven, and join the coastal path. For keen cyclists, there is a lockable store and outside tap.
