Circa (1730), this splendid Georgian country home and gardens is beautifully situated in Ireland's most scenic and tranquil hideaways.
Only a short drive (15-20 minutes) from Galway city, along the picturesque route to Clifden, Connemara, you will find this peaceful oasis on the banks of the Owenriff River, surrounded by the Corrib Lakes, golf courses, mountains and rivers.
With six individually designed guestrooms, the property also benefits from its characterful living and entertaining areas, making it ideal for large groups and family celebrations.
"Perfect Irish country estate" We had a superb stay here. The home is charming and historic, with beautiful grounds. It's a short easy walk into Oughterard, which has everything most people will need--multiple nice pubs and restaurants, a decent grocery store, a good butcher, several other nice little shops, and Catholic and Anglican churches. Mary, the caretaker for the house, is extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Country House in Oughterard
Our family of 8 adults had a great stay in this house in Oughterard. The house was as advertised and the caretaker Mary was very helpful. The large sunroom and kitchen were our favorite hangouts!
Easy 15 minute walk into town and a good base for exploring Connemara and the Burren.

Lovely old world house, 6 bedrooms, log/turf burners.
Not ruined by being 'modernised' to death. Fab large garden, 10 mins walk into the small town. VV good!

"Delightful old house full of charm and character yet with all modern comforts"
We were a large family group of parents young adults and children- 11 in all. The house was a comfortable fit for us and we all loved it. Very convenient too, being on the edge of the bustling village of Oughterard which we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. I particularly loved Loch Corrib- stunning scenery and wonderful wild swimming. We toured around quite a bit - loved Roundstone and the magnificent Dogs Bay Beach. Not so impressed by Ashford Castle - disappointing not to be allowed inside the castle itself and although the grounds are attractive, at €10 a head, they are quite expensive. However all in all we had a fantastic time. Mary couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We would love to return!

"Great house. Large kitchen table for everyone to sit at. short walk into Oughterard."
We had a brilliant family reunion here which has great charm and plenty of space. The garden area is lovely, the conservatory and sitting room are comfy and very pleasant, and most importantly, the kitchen table fitted all of us and other family members comfortably. Oughterard was very close and easy to pop in and out of on foot - less than 10 mins. Good restaurants and lovely food shop, O'Sullivans in the town. Plenty of places to see and nice walks nearby. Many thanks for everything.

"60th birthday"
Had a brilliant time in oughterard staying in Wellpark. 12 of the family together for my 60th birthday. The house was large enough for all of us with plenty of room and lovely garden. The surrounding area was lovely. We also enjoyed visiting Cong, Ashford castle and Westport. Looking forward to visiting again.
