Place yourselves in the heart of historic Porto at this light-filled apartment perched along one of downtown’s most iconic avenues, Rua Mártires da Liberdade. While the traditional features of this Portuguese building, complete with obligatory azulejos tiles, are charming, expect some quirks. The spiral staircase leading up to the second bedroom is narrow and steep, and there’s only air-conditioning in one of the bedrooms. But we can forgive that for those two private terraces – a godsend on warm evenings. There's even a small desk nook to keep on top of emails – if you must.
