Area The charming village of Grasmere is in the Lake District National Park. It is arguably best known as the residence of William Wordsworth, who once referred to it as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found." The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, where the Wilson family has been producing gingerbread for more than 60 years, must be included in every trip to Grasmere. A variety of stores, pubs, a church that dates to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake are in the village as well. Every August, Grasmere Sports is held, allowing spectators to witness athletes compete in several sports, including Cumberland wrestling.
