Area Positioned on a hill overlooking Morecambe Bay is the small village of Bardsea. This remote settlement grew from a small fishing village and farming area to become a major transportation link for coal, iron ore and corn. Today, Bardsea still retains its fishing heritage, and features two pubs, both of which serve fine ales and good food. The village itself is located close to Furness Abbey, whilst the market town of Ulverston is just two miles away, and maintains its street market tradition, hosting one every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year. Ulverston is also the location for many festivals including an amazing lantern procession in November and a Dickensian weekend in early December. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park within easy driving distance, and the sandy beaches of the Furness coast close by, this peaceful spot has plenty to offer.

We hired Eden Lodge for a family celebration (50th birthday). The Lodge is set in its own large grounds in quiet Bardsea, near Ulverston. Our three night stay was largely very positive, the building being more than adequate to accommodate a large party. With two large sitting areas with bar, a big commercial kitchen, a huge dining room and lots of comfortable bedrooms, mostly en suite, it was liking having our own hotel! But it was such a size that there was never a time we felt we were getting under each other's feet. The lodge also has a sauna and hot tub and here is where the issues arose. The sauna, due to an electrical fault, failed to work at all. The hot tub worked fine on the our first night, but after this didn't heat up properly and we lost the use of this for the rest of the stay. This and having to phone around to report the faults slightly marred the enjoyment of our visit. The issues were reported to the company that manages the property and Sykes Cottages, and we were compensated for the loss of the amenities. All in all the positives of Eden Lodge outweigh the negative parts of our stay and we would consider visiting again, my only proviso would be to check that all the selling points of the property are in working condition on arrival.

We have just returned home from a week at Eden Lodge - self catered, whole property rental - over the Christmas week. What an amazing property to share as a family. Loads of space, beautifully decorated, and every room en suite. We had a couple of issues with things not working or broken but the service company came almost straight away and properly sorted or completely replaced things. We would highly recommend Eden lodge for family get togethers and thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities . and beautiful local walks. The view from the dining room (and hot tub) is breathtaking Thank you for an amazing week !

The house was the best large property we have been to (we have visited over 20 in the past). It was really well equipped and the furnishings were beautiful. The house was spotless and provided a wonderful base for the area.

The accommodation was excellent with each bedroom having an en-suite. There were 22 people in our party and they all remarked how good Eden Lodge is. There was plenty of room, cutlery, crockery and this was an ideal place to hold a 60th birthday weekend. Convenient for Windermere, Eden Lodge is an ideal base and a bonus was the golf course next door. Overall a great weekend enjoyed by all!

Eden Lodge was warm and welcoming, very well furnished and equipped. We booked to celebrate my 70th birthday for my family ranging from 6 months to 73 years old. There were lots of things to do, including hot tub, sauna and trampoline. It made my birthday very special.

The bedrooms all had en suites and were furnished to an excellent standard. The lounge and dining area were so large it more than accommodated our party of 16 adults and 6 children. The kitchen was of a catering standard so had more than enough crockery and glasses for us all. The location was also very picturesque with views down to the sea which is only a 10 minute walk away. Outstanding accommodation which we would recommend to big groups without hesitation.

We were celebrating our Ruby Wedding and were joined by all our five children, three spouses and nine grandchildren so we needed a big spot. We were not disappointed. The high quality of the house and fittings, the ample space for children (young and old) to play indoors when it was raining, the warm welcome from the owner, the ample well equipped kitchen, the hot tub, the beautiful grounds, the bedrooms and en-suite facilities, the 'flexible' lounge furniture and the views from most rooms over Morcambe Bay to the hills beyond all helped to make it a memorable holiday and celebration.
