In the summer season, catch the passenger ferry across the river to Instow with its sandy, dog friendly beach and sand dunes it s a must, plus several pubs/restaurants. Within 2 miles is Westward Ho!, with its golden sands and typical seaside amusements. Other local attractions includes RHS Rosemoor (10 miles), The Big Sheep (3 miles), and The Milky Way Adventure Park, or North Devon Wake Park, both 10 miles, for a variety of water sports.
