Back home, after stowing your surfboards and rinsing off your gear under the outdoor hose, you can enjoy direct access to the outdoors from the open living area and the master bedroom on the lower ground floor. There's plenty of space out here for alfresco feasts and sunbathing sessions, plus private access to the estuary for Blyton-esque riverside adventures for the kids. For a change of scenery, head to well-heeled Salcombe to spend a day sailing on the estuary, creating your own personalised gin and dining in waterside brasseries – it's a twenty-minute drive away.
