Cottage in Mid Wales: Powys

This riverside cottage is an idyllic rural getaway, offering a blend of comfort, natural beauty and outdoor pursuits. There is plenty to explore on foot including a gentle amble across the surrounding countryside to the village of Glasbury (under 1 mile), which offers a good local pub serving food. Or you can try wild swimming and salmon fishing on the River Wye. A little off the beaten track are the Begwyns, 580 acres of National Trust hills and rolling landscape with breathtaking views across the Brecon Beacons National Park. For the energetic, there s access to mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, and horse riding where you can explore the 4 mile stretch between Glasbury and Hay. Hay on Wye (4 miles) is within easy reach and is famous for its international book festival, with plenty of second hand bookshops, an art house cinema and independent shops, as well as The Globe at Hay. One of the highlights of this riverside cottage is its proximity to the River Wye. As you meander down the driveway, you'll be greeted by the calming sound of the flowing river and the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. Set within its own grounds, the cottage is perfect for families and small groups. The ground floor open plan living space serves as the heart of the cottage, combining a well equipped kitchen that's perfect for whipping up a feast for all, a dining area with seating for eight guests, and a lounge with large comfortable sofas and armchairs, a drop down full size projector screen that's perfect for watching a movie and there's a TV. Natural light spills through the large windows, illuminating the space and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A beautiful bathroom with a free standing bath and a walk in waterfall shower completes the ground floor. The light and spacious first floor offers guests the choice of three generously sized bedrooms all of which have stunning countryside views, with doors opening from the landing area onto an outside covered terrace with comfortable seating and breathtaking views. The master bedroom is a triple room that s perfect for families with a king size sleigh bed and a single sleigh bed. There are two further super king size zip and link rooms (that can be made into twin beds on request when booking). There is also a shower room with a WC on this floor. Set within a private walled garden which is perfect for relaxing, the wooden framed conservatory with fairy lights and seating is great for al fresco dinners. There's also a covered bar area with a wood burner and views of the hills beyond and a fire pit with log bench seating in the adjoining field. In addition, there are large areas of lawn ideal for playing games and relaxing. Enjoy private fishing, paddleboarding and endless walking straight from the front door along the Wye Valley walking path.
