Lazio might not get the plaudits of Tuscany or Umbria, but it's still a beautiful region of Italy – just look at the hilltop views from this home's excellent outdoor space, which offers both a dining terrace and swimming pool to keep visitors happy during the warmer months. The home itself used to be a stable and while there's none of the period charm you often find with restored buildings, we think that it's a solid – if slightly unremarkable – place to rest your head for a week or two.

*There are three bedrooms in the main house and an additional bedroom and ensuite bathroom in a separate annexe
*Both buildings are spread across a single storey
*Your host can provide a cot and high chair for free upon request
*The swimming pool is only available for use between the last Saturday in April and the first Saturday in October
*There's ample space to park on the home's driveway
*Though there isn't a dedicated desk here, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace
