Alocasia: Lisbon

A serene space inspired by the sandy beaches of Southeast Asia, this bright apartment in Lisbon’s Avenidas Novas district provides a wonderfully relaxing base from which to explore the city. Inside, a plethora of vibrant green leafy plants create a jungle-like vibe in the living room, contrasting beautifully against the wood floors and neutral palette. We love the blend of soft furnishings and wooden accents that lend the space a calm, natural feel and the basket pendant lights above the dining area. The two bedrooms, meanwhile, are equally peaceful with their muted colour schemes, soft throws and large windows that allow for plenty of natural light to shine in. The master bedroom has a desk space too should you need to catch up on work, but with the city’s sights on your doorstep, we recommend less business and more pleasure. Take a stroll through Parque Eduardo VII (an eight-minute walk) or indulge in some retail therapy along Avenida da Liberdade (a nine-minute walk). Don’t miss out on exploring Bairro Alto too (fifteen minutes away by bus) where centuries-old houses are decorated with vivid street art and the evocative sound of Fado music lilts through the air after sundown.
