The beach is within shuffling distance from this apartment on the Costa del Sol. It’s just along the coast from the glitz and glam of Marbella, a short drive away. But there’s plenty to keep you occupied right here with beach bars lining the promenade and watersports on offer at Playa de la Fontanilla just around the corner. Plus, at the apartment complex itself, guests here have access to a huge swimming pool.

We love the outside space at the apartment itself. The terrace is lined with Moroccan-style seating, piled high with cushions – the ideal place to indulge in a holiday read in the sun. Details like ceramic lamps and object d’art on the dresser out here make it feel as though you’re relaxing in an alfresco living room. It really catches the sun during the day, but don’t worry, there’s an awning that can shade the rustic wooden dining table for long, lazy lunches.

The indoor living room has a touch of opulence, thanks to neat cornicing and a vast, open feel. There is more than enough room for the group on three plush sofas and accents like the raw wood coffee table and vibrant modern art create a homely atmosphere. Sparkling marble tiles continue through to the full kitchen, which shows off a view of the gardens – where wooden bridges cross a meandering river and palms scrape the sky – from floor-to-ceiling glass. Just outside the kitchen, there’s a second outdoor seating area with a bistro table so you can enjoy the sound of birdsong in the gardens with your morning cuppa.
