This newly built villa on the island of Patmos is a shining example of how to incorporate classic Meditteranean design motifs into modern homes.
Inside, the white walls, terracotta tiling and bursts of exposed stonework feel instantly recognisable, as well as perfectly cooling on a hot summer's afternoon. There are rustic elements in the shape of shelves built into alcoves and window shutters, which, when opened, look out to spectacular views of the island's port.
You get an even better vantage point when you head out to the home's terrace, which has an alfresco dining table, a couple of deckchairs and — best of all — a swimming pool. To top it all off, there's even a hammam on the premises, so you can truly kick back and relax.
When you want to see more of the island, the nearest beach — Melloi — is just over five minutes' drive away and goes past plenty of restaurants and cafes along the way. In the other direction, you can explore Monastery of Saint John the Theologian.
