The spotlight is on Spain right now and the announcement by Four Seasons that it will open its first hotel project in Spain later this year is a major vote of confidence for the country.

The chosen location is Madrid and with suites costing up to €12,000 per night this beautiful hotel is set to become the most expensive and largest and most luxurious in the history of the city.

Following a stunning restoration of seven heritage buildings in the Canalejas complex, the historic buildings will house the hotel's 200 guestrooms and 22 luxury private residences. Some of the suites will have sensational outdoor terraces with panoramic views.

The hotel will be connected to Galería Canalejas, a luxury retail space comprising 160,000 square feet of shops and dining. There will be three restaurants and a bar, a high-end spa and a swimming pool on the eighth floor with a rooftop terrace likely to draw the most fashionable Madrilenos.

Christoph Schmidinger has been appointed opening general manager. He has worked for the Four Seasons brand for more than 25 years, including managing the Four Seasons Hotel New York in Midtown Manhattan and overseeing many of their highest profile hotels.

With rooftop dining and a sunny pool terrace, the opening of this hotel is set to add a level of luxury and service never seen before in Madrid and will be a welcome addition to the luxury travel market of the region and will attract worldwide travellers looking for the ultimate in luxury.
