It's Adare Manor – but not as we know it … This five star magical manor house, originally the home of the Dunraven family, set in 840 acres by the Maigue, is now shining more brightly than at any other time in its history.
The gothic drama and imposing façade of the exterior, which has been lovingly restored, is breathtaking and the interiors have now been transformed to offer modern country-house luxury and cutting-edge technolog It's another tremendous news story for Ireland's thriving tourism and golf industry and the JP McManus-owned hotel and Tom Fazio designed golf course is even eyeing up the Ryder Cup for 2023.
Eighteen months of meticulous restoration, a team of over 800, a reported €50 million investment and careful conservation has breathed new life in to this old building … this makeover is one of the biggest seen in the country. The number of bedrooms has almost doubled and is now 104 and each luxurious room has a golf course, river or garden view. There's elegance and opulence all the way and the team of discreet staff now look distinctive in tailored navy uniforms with an antique trim designed by Deborah Veale.
To bring Adare Manor up to world-class standards, guests can now completely relax in the comfort of interiors designed by London-based Kim Partridge and 300-double thread count Garnier Thiebaut French sheets, high-end technology with i-Pad controlled curtains, lights and air conditioning, Ireland's only La Mer spa and a relaxation terrace, gym, pool and 28 seater cinema.
The 'wow' factor happens time after time on a visit to Adare Manor. The new ballroom, which has high ceilings embellished with gold leaf and gold topped columns is a stunning centrepiece. The other 'big reveal' is the Gallery, where afternoon tea and breakfast is served, which is the second longest room in Ireland after the Long room in Trinity College Dublin. Stained glass windows, massive fireplaces, wood carvings and antique tapestries add to the sense of history.
There's fine dining and beautifully crafted tasting menus with highest-quality ingredients from Irish artisan producers, with a team of over 50 chefs as part of the 350 strong team, headed up by Head Chef Michael Tweedie of Ballyfin fame. Loughlin Druhan, former Food and Beverage Director at Jumeirah, Etihad Towers has joined Adare Manor and General Manager is Paul Heery, formerly from Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland.
Head Sommelier, Jurica Gojevic has overseen the expansion of Adare Manor's wine collection of over 650 exceptional wines from the world's greatest wine regions.
With respect for the history of the property but a clear eye for the future – Adare Manor is one for the wishlist in 2018!
