Palace São Sebastião: Lisbon

It is in the heart of the Portuguese capital, we find this majestic palace, whose dimensions and unique characteristics transport us to a time when the society that way walking, delighting with its stunning architecture and letting yourself be captivated by the exquisite green spaces.

With a plot that spans an area of 14,000 m2, the mansion D. João V was so christened by locals, believing that will have belonged to that king.

The belief that the palace was the residence of King John V of Portugal mainly derives from the presence of the royal coat of arms on the rear facade of the main building and pavilion located next to the lake, an idea that is reinforced by the existence in the garden of a bank in Baroque tiles, 1715, in which is illustrated a gallant scene between John V and Mother Paula, the Convent of Maynooth.

With five bedrooms, living rooms, dining, games, music and entrance sitting room, every corner of this palace is rich in noble materials, preserving in all divisions aristocratic elegance that characterizes since its construction. Build in the twentieth century, the chapel came to add even more character to the palace, sharing the rich aesthetic this treatment in other areas.

In parallel with the interior areas, the garden is also a strong argument for this property. The idyllic setting, redesigned in 1970 by landscape architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles, is filled with statues, fountains and ponds. The accompanying dependencies, such as the hunting lodge of nineteenth-century features designed in 1920 by Raul Lino, are richly decorated with exquisite tiles, similar to what happens in the main building.

Completely refurbished in 2010, the palace has filed class in the new century, now equipped with renovated bathrooms and a kitchen equipped with the latest technologies. Existing fireplaces combine with the newly installed central heating to provide unparalleled comfort in every room of the house.
